Mechanical separation

Mechanical separations consist of four groups - centrifugal separation, sedimentation, filtration, and sieving. Mechanical separation is based on differences in phase fluidity, phase density, and mechanical properties of particles like shape, size, density, and viscosity. Separation technology allows for separating cases like liquid-liquid, liquid-gas, liquid-solid, gas-solid, gas-liquid-solid, or solid-solid. TG-Machines is designing and manufacturing strainer screw conveyors for mechanical filtration, belt conveyors, and cyclone separators. Strainer screw conveyors are used often in onboard fish meal plants and in the meat rendering plants for solids from liquids separation. Special designs allow for easy replacement of strainer section when necessary. Liquid flow through fine holes which are small enough to stop the solid particles.

Belt conveyor metal detector

In the meat and fish rendering plants, it is necessary to have a metal detector for material separation, which will secure subsequent processing machines against damage by some steel pieces. An energy-efficient belt conveyor detector is installed in a such rendering plant. It is used to remove any metal foreign matter from the processing line. Magnetic separators can be used for either raw or cooked materials like meat, poultry, fish, and feathers. Stones and heavy objects can be removed from the processing line by a special stone catcher connection.

Cyclone separator

The next crucial machine in the meat and fish rendering industry is a cyclone separator. Cyclone is a type of dust collector for cleaning the gases from solid particles bigger than 10μm in diameter. Cyclone separation machines can separate solid particles from gases. The cyclone is made as a vertical cylinder with a tangential inlet. When solid particles are flowing with gas into the chamber, centrifugal forces throw the particles to the outside walls of the cyclone. Clean air is flowing out from a centrally placed channel. Separating equipment has applications in the food industry to remove impurities, improve the performance and appearance of processed raw material.
